In early 2009, YRPG set up its TCM Research Institute by integrating tis R&D resources in all parts of China. The institute has a center in Shanghai and sub-institutes in Beijing, Nanjing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Taizhou, etc. Now there are over 100 R&D personnel, of whom over 80% are with post-graduate diploma or above. Their work encompasses different fields including natural pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacology and clinical studies.
        The institute now has 3 type-one TCM programs under research, 3 type-five TCM programs, over 30 type-six TCM programs. Most of these programs are targeting at cardio-vascular diseases, aged diseases, gynecological diseases, pediatric diseases and digestive disorders. Meanwhile, the institutes also do well in second development of TCM, and big industry of TCM.

The institute has always attached equal importance to independent research and industry-institute-university cooperation. Over the past three years, it has established industry-institute-university cooperation with over 30 universities or institutes including China Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Medical School of Peking University, Harbin Medical University, Shuguang Hospital of Shanghai Traditional Medical University, Longhua Hospital, Beijing Kuanjie Hospital, The First Allillated Hospital of Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
