The new forces were promoted in Shanghai where both Chinese and foreign medical experts gathered in Shanghai. On March 22, Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award Promotion Campaign and Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group International Anesthesia and Analgesia Summit Forum was hosted in Shanghai. During the conference, Xiong Lize, Director of Xijing Hospital, winner of Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award and National Science and Technology Progress Award shared his views on the "choice of research and application" and encouraged practitioners in medical science field to explore and work for progress. Howard S. Smith, the chief editor of Pain Physician and Liu Renyu, Secretary-General of International Chinese Anesthesia Institute, introduced the current use of perioperative period opioid and latest progress of pain relief medicines.

The Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award is a scion-tech award established by Chinese Medical Association and approved by Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science and Technology in 2001. It is the award of the highest authority in China's medical industry. There have been 943 awards in medical science and technology over the past 12 years. From 2006 when the Chinese Medical Association got the approval from the National Science and Technology Awarding Office, it had recommended National Natural Science Award, Invention Award and Scientific and Technological Progress Award from the first prizes from Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award. Since 2001, Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group has been sponsoring the appraisal of Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award and attended the national promotion campaign for the award in 2008. This promotional campaign was focused on anesthesia and analgesia, and aimed to involve the exploration of experts in anesthesia and analgesia and promote and apply the results of the award so that the awards could better serve the general public.

In recent years, there has been fresh progress in anesthesia and other related fields with each passing day. The development of clinical technology and the research and application of new medicine are providing wider and better choices for safeguarding the patients' safety, expanding the scope of operation, the treatment for seriously ill patients and patients suffering from chronic and acute pains. This summit forum drew six overseas experts, thirty top experts and leaders in China, two hundred academic pioneers in anesthesia and analgesia to discuss the hot and key issues in anesthesia and analgesia and share the progress and trend of research and development of anesthesia and analgesia drugs. This campaign, jointly held by overseas institutes, domestic academic groups and national medical companies, could bring new ideas, new views, new methods to academic promotion and exchange activities, and would surely promote the growth of anesthesia and analgesia in China.

Luo Ling noted in the speech that the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award was a progressive force for improving the innovating ability and research ability of researchers in medical industry and inspiring researchers in reaching new highs in science and technology in China. The award was well-accepted by the researchers and other quarters of the society. The promotional campaign of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award aimed at drawing more researchers in medical science and inspired them to innovate and explore and promote the development of relevant fields, improve the preventing capacity of diseases, and bring benefit to the general public. Secretary-General Luo Ling recognized Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group's fulfilling of corporate social responsibility in her speech and is an unwavering support of China's medical science progress and she expressed her appreciation.

Xu Jingren said in the opening ceremony that Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group has always been following the medical and health undertaking in China and supporting the progress of medical science as its mission.
