The 3rd Meeting of the 1st Session of 12th National People's Congress of Jiangsu was held on January 23. 150 representatives of Jiangsu province to attend the 12th National People's Congress were elected. Xu Jingren was among the elected with overwhelming supporting rate.

Among the elected representatives, 6 were from Taizhou. They are: Xu Guoping, Vice Party Secretary-General of Taizhou and Mayor of Taizhou, Lu Chunyun, member of Standing Committee and Party Secretary-General of Taizhou Medicine High-Tech Zone, Xu Jingren from Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group, Liu Jinlan, Chairman of Jiangsu Xingda Steel Cord Co., Ltd., He Jianzhong, Director of Jiangping Road Sub-branch of Postal Bureau of Taixing, and Luo Jin, General Manager of Jiangsu Antae Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Xu Jingren has also been the representative in the 10th and 11th National People's Congress.

This was the first general election since the Election Law was amended. The election used secret ballot and competitive elections to elect 150 representatives for the 12th National People's Congress out of 183 delegates, with the margin reaching up to 22%. The 12 candidates appointed by the Central Government to compete in Jiangsu were all elected with overwhelming majority.
