At the Annual National Science and Technology Awarding Meeting on February 14, 2011, the project "Innovation, Integration and Industrialization of Industrial Forest Ginkgo Leaf with Technology Efficiently", which was carried out by YRPG, won the second National Science and Technology Progress Prize and become another example of the industry-university-institute cooperation in science and technology promotion and independent innovation.
Taizhou was home to ginkgo. YRPG, as a Taizhou-based enterprise, took full advantage of the rich ginkgo resource, and accelerated the development and application of this technology to industrialize ginkgo. With the help of technical innovation, YRPG brought technologies such as three-effect concentration, resin adsorption purification, organic solvent extraction deacidification and fingerprint control into ginkgo leaf tablet production. This improved tablet quality. After its launching into the market, Ginkgo Leaf Tablets helped numerous cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease patients. With a large share in Chinese market, the medicine has been listed in the best-price-for-value traditional Chinese medicines. Since ginkgo could also treat vascular dementia, YRPG made a second exploitation of the medicine. After improving dosage form and speeding up forming integrated technology innovation, ginkgo was widely applied in Chinese and foreign markets. This promotes the development of the ginkgo tree industry and ginkgo tree preparation industry. In 2005, YRPG's Annual Output of One Billion Ginkgo Tablets project was awarded National High-tech Industrialization Demonstration Project by the National Development and Reform Commission.
Experts in the pharmaceutical industry said that the Innovation, Integration and Industrialization project of ginkgo was highly technological and multi-disciplinary, covering biology, chemistry, medicine, food, feed, machinery and materials. The research results were a major breakthrough of the major difficulties in the industrial development. They promoted the technological progress and industrial development of related disciplines. This was a model of innovation and industrialization of the technology system of other species of tree industrial forest.
Previously, the project Premenstrual Syndrome Combined with Clinical, Basic and R&D and Application of New Drugs jointly held by YRPG and Shandong Traditional Chinese Medicine Universitywon the second prize of 2006 National Science and Technology Progress Award, which is YRPG’s second time to win such prize.
