Before the "two sessions", Xu Jingren, representative of National People’s Congress and Chairman of Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group, went to the countryside of Gaogang District, Taizhou for days to gather information on people's drug use conditions and their living situations. He visited the enterprise’s production line to understand the technical and innovative conditions, listened to people’s views and prepared the proposed planning.
Xu Jingren was deeply concerned about the life of disadvantaged groups in the countryside. On February 25, he visitedthe family of Zhang Longhai, a villager of Yinjiang Village of Gaogang District. Surrounded by new houses with tiled roofs, Zhang Longhai’s 20-year old house looked rather shabby. Zhang Longhai has been incapable of working for many years due to the liver disease with his wife’s low salary as the primary income of the family. Zhang Longhai’s drug expenses, their daughter’s tuition and the living expenses of the whole family reduced the whole family to utter poverty. Upon entering the court yard, Zhang Longhai’s mother held Xu Jingren’s hands firmly for appreciation. YRPG Charity Society has chosen the family on the help list, and it did not only purchase the new rural social insurance for Zhang Longhai but also sponsor his daughter's study at university. Xu Jingren talked with Zhang Longhai thoughtfully to understand his physical conditions, medical treatment and family income resource in detail. Zhang Longhai said he could be reimbursed by 70% of his medical treatment at Gaogang District because of the new rural social insurance as purchased by YRPG Charity Association. Xu Jingren comforted that "Your family's hardship is just temporary. The Party and the government will do their best to help you out, and our charity society will also help you. Your family member will lead a better life upon the graduation of your daughter in two years".
The delegation led by Xu Jingren continued to look at the transportation and sanitation conditions in the countryside after leaving the family of Zhang Longhai in order to carry out an on-site survey of the highway as constructed with the funds donated by YRPG Charity Society. The highway was 600m in length, 3.5m in width and 15cm in depth. Xu Jingren and the village cadres discussed the construction materials and safety in detail. As the highway was facing the residents on one side with a pond on the other side, he stressed the protection from inadvertent falling into water and residents’ safety. In the interview survey, Xu Jingren proposed suggestions to the sanitary construction and virescence in the countryside, and suggested the village committee plant more trees. He said the tree planting took several generations, and although it may not bring about wealth, it would improve the environment, lift the villagers’ spirit and benefit future generations. Xu Jingren also made use of the weekend to survey the group’s production line so as to understand and command the technical innovations. He listened to the ideas and suggestions of staff of the production line in terms of the product quality improvement and craftwork innovation. He said the quality did not came only from checking but out from the design and production. The innovation was not only characteristic of the new drugs but also of the management philosophy, production craftwork and quality system. YRPG should adopt advanced philosophy, craftwork and equipment to seek better quality, put into practice the enterprise philosophy of "Seeking progress all the time and safeguarding health for all human being" as well as the development tenet of "Benefit the public through quality pro". He hoped that everyone could tap their talents in technical innovation so that they could contribute to the enterprise’ innovative development.
