On March 12, Ninth Congress of Jiangsu Medical Association was held in Nanjing. 439 experts and scholars from health system and army stationed in Jiangsu attended to represent over 260, 000 medical science & technology workers. He Quan,Vice Governor of Jiangsu,Zhu Bulou, Deputy Secretary General, He Guoping,Deputy Director, Guo Xinghua,Director of Department of Health of Jiangsu, Zhang Tieheng, Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, andLiu Yanfei,Vice Chairman of Chairman Medical Association, addressed the congress.
The congress awarded 20 advanced medical associations of Jiangsu and 5 local medical associations of provincial cities. The working report of Carrying Forward Innovation and Promoting the Healthy Development of the Association was made by Tang Weixin, Executive Vice Chairman, on behalf of the Eighth Council, and the revised Articles of Jiangsu Medical Association were approved. The Ninth Council consisting of 191 directors and Executive Council consisting of 65 executive directors were elected. Guo Xinghua,CPC Secretary of Department of Health and Director of Department, was elected Chairman of Jiangsu Medical Association.
Vice Governor of Jiangsu He Quan fully recognized the important role of Jiangsu Medical Association in prospering Jiangsu medical service, safeguarding people's health and promoting social and economic development. He expected that Jiangsu Medical Association would focus on the central task, serve the overall interests and promote all work to a new stage. It should play more important role as an assistant in promoting medical technology progress, enhancing the medical continuing education, and improving the doctor-patient relations. It should exert efforts to provide qualified services to extensive members and become the home for medical workers.
The congress was strongly supported by YRPG. Vice Chairman of YRPG Xu Haoyu was invited to attend the congress and addressed. On March 11, Jiangsu Medical Association and YRPG jointly organized the welcome banquet named Night of YRPG, and presented a wonderful gala.
As is known, Jiangsu Medical Association was an academic association that was among the earliest founded, with the largest scale and greatest influence. It had become the main front for medical academic communication and health science popularization. As of the end of 2010, Jiangsu Medical Association had 55 branches and 6,500 individual members.
