February 17 was the Lantern Festival. To celebrate the festival with staffs, YRPG held such activities as guessing the lantern riddles, flying the lanterns and making wishes.
Guessing riddles was an activity enjoyed by the public. The labor union prepared 300 riddles and presents for those who got the right answer. There were word riddles, idioms, place names and two-part allegorical sayings. Some staffs took part in guessing riddles together with their children. They racked their minds for the puzzles and cheered for the right answers. Most of the riddles were quickly solved.
According to the customs in Gaogang, Lantern Festival was the festival of lanterns, lasting from "hanging lanterns" in the thirteenth day of the first month to "lowering lanterns" in the eighteenth day of the first day. To make sure everyone enjoy flying the lanterns, the labor union prepared200 lanterns (also named as Kongming Lantern). Many migrant employees driven by curiosity lit the wick with the red candle. Filled with hot air and driven by the wind, lanterns flied to the sky. It seemed that the sky was studded with stars. The lanterns were carrying people's good wishes that YRPG would have a brighter future.
Eating rice dumplings was an important custom in the Lantern Festival. The delicious rice dumplings prepared by Petrel Hotel were delivered to each employee. They felt the warmth from YRPG family and were deeply moved.
Happy hours flied. At last people lit the fireworks. The sky became colorful. The Lantern Festival came to a successful end.
