On the afternoon of August 30, 2010, Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group (YRPG) held a ceremony in Kou’an District to sponsor freshmen admitted to higher education institutions.
22 college candidates and 11 students of the district were awarded by YRPG Charity Society stipends up to 100,000 Yuan in total. Every student was awarded 3,000 Yuan as stipend. They welcome university life with intense enthusiasm. They expressed sincere gratitude that they would study hard to repay the hometown and motherland and not to let YRPG down.
Ji Hongquan, Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee of YRPG presided at and addressed the ceremony. Qi Zhengxin, Standing Vice Chairman of YRPG Charity Society, introduced the sponsorship of education in this year. The sponsorship has been extended the latest years. Currently eight towns of Gaogang District for candidates from low-income households, especially the orphan candidates, and those from disabled families as primary beneficiaries are covered. Up to now, the sponsorship has been extended from the original university freshmen to all university and college freshmen. Besides, awards are also available to those outstanding students from the entire district, including Kou’an Sub-district.
To better implement the sponsorship of higher education, YRPG Charity Society will announce on TV the list of college candidates to be sponsored together with Qualification and conditions for sponsorship after the results of annual collage entrance examination were announced. With the assistance and cooperation of the Working Committee for the Care of Children and the Council for the Promotion of Construction in the Old Revolutionary Areas of various sub-districts (towns), the association receives the registration information, reviews the conditions, publicizes the initial names list on TV for public supervision, and then finally grants the stipend publically.
Statistics show that YRPG Charity Society has helped 203 needy college candidates with over 600,000 Yuan for eight years. President Xu Jingren who always attaches importance to education, attended every ceremony as much as possible. He encouraged the students to work hard and make contributions to the country and the people.
