On June 3, the list of 2008 Jiangsu top 100 enterprises and top 100 private enterprises came out. Jiangsu Shagang Group Co., Ltd. won two champions with the annual revenue of RMB 145.232 billion. It was the first time that Jiangsu private enterprise ranked first on the list of Jiangsu top 100 enterprises. Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group (YRPG) was listed among both Jiangsu top 100 enterprises and top 100 private enterprises and respectively ranked the 47^th and the 14^th on the list. This showed YRPG's prominent economic strength.
It was reported that Jiangsu Electric Power Company and Suning Group ranked respectively the 2^nd and 3^rd on the list of 2008 Jiangsu top 100 enterprises with the business income of more than RMB hundreds of billion yuan. The standard of top 100 enterprises was over RMB 9.2 billion which had increased by RMB 0.3 billion. The total business income had reached RMB 2,246.648 billion with the year-on-year growth of 20.5%. Compared with former years, these enterprises were still relatively concentrated and there were 83 enterprises from the south of Jiangsu. According to statistics, the top 100 enterprises of 2008 over the province owned total assets of RMB 1,756.79 billion with the year-on-year growth of 15.1%. Although operation scales were expanded significantly,the economic benefits slightly dropped. The total amount of profits and taxes of top 100 enterprises was RMB 187.222 billion with the year-on-year decrease of 3.4%.
On the list of 2008 Jiangsu top 100 private enterprises published in the same period, the private enterprises in the middle and south of Jiangsu occupied absolute predominance. There were totally 99 enterprises from these places. The average scale of listed enterprises was expanded again. Their average annual revenue was over RMB 10 billion and reached RMB 10.964 billion. The number of enterprises with profits and taxes over RMB 1 billion increased by 4and reached 15. According to the list, there were 12 new listed enterprises. Taizhou New Century Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. ranked the 30^th with its annual revenue of RMB 10.343 billion. There were 12 enterprises withdrawing from the list. These enterprises were mainly engaged in industrial manufacturing, 4 of which were iron and steel enterprises.
