On April 18, Construction Planning Discussion Meeting for the Building of Jiangsu (Taizhou) New Drug Research Institute, i.e. the Second Academic Council Meeting was held by YRPG to seek advice on the construction planning of the research institute from experts and professors.
Experts of the discussion meeting were Prof. Ping Qineng and Prof. Kong Lingyi from China Pharmaceutical University, Prof. Pan Weisan from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Prof. Wu Wei from College of Pharmacy of Fudan University, researcher Yang Yushe from Shanghai Drug Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, researcher Jiang Ning from Sichuan Antibiotic Industrial Institute, researchers Ma Baichuan and Mei Xingguo from Academy of Miltary Medical Sciences, researcher Zheng Dexian from China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Prof. Hua Zichun from College of Physical and Biological Sciences of Nanjing University, Prof. Xiao Hang and Wang Xinru from Nanjing Medical University, and Prof. Guo Yajun from Second Military Medical University. The meeting was held by director Li Taisheng from Conditions and Equipment Office of the Department of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province. Xu Jingren delivered an addresson the meeting.
The group of experts came to the construction field of Pharmaceutical High-tech Park of YRPG to examine the site selection and construction blueprint of the new building. On the meeting, after the introduction of the functions and planning layout of the research and development building, experts gave their opinions on issues of functional orientation, design layout, and preparation of labs, etc. and offered sincere advices and suggestions. The experts agreed that the construction has to be pre-planned with high beginning and distinct features and that authorities and experts in relevant disciplines should be invited into the process and successful experience of top-notch research and development organizations of home and abroad should be learned from to avoid wastes of resources and unnecessary detours.
Jiangsu (Taizhou) New Drug Research Institute in construction with one 15-storey building and one 9-storey building, also known as “Jiuwu Mansion”, takes up a total area of more than 30 thousand square meters. The fundamental idea in the construction planning of the new institute is “Functional Completion with Instinct Features”. The institute has seven research labs under it, Innovative Chemical Drugs Research Lab, Innovative Biological Drugs Research Lab, Modern Chinese Medicine Research Lab, National Key Lab of New Technology in Pharmaceutical Preparation, Analysis and Test Research Lab, Pharmacology and Toxicology Research Lab, and New Technology Preparation Pre-production Research Lab. The construction period is estimated to be 2 years with building projects finished at the end of this year and installation and debugging of devices and equipment by December, 2010.
In recent years, the research and development of YRPG has been transforming from imitation dominance in the past to the combination of imitation and creativity with one category of 10 new drugs in development procedure. In light of the status quo of the research and development of YRPG, experts offered earnest suggestions on the integration of research and development resources, orientation of product research, promotion of industry-university-research cooperation, and the promotion of enterprise innovation capabilities, etc. It can be expected that the research and development platform conditions, technical conditions and scientific research teams of YRPG will be promoted to a new level and YRPG will be equipped with the independent research and development competence to innovate on new technological drugs, such as innovative chemical, biological, modern Chinese medicine and pharmaceutical preparations, etc.
