On October 17, in the benefit party with the scheme of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty held in Beijing, Xu Jingren, president of YRPG who is enthusiastic in public welfare establishments, stepped on the podium in the respect and praises of the people. To honor the affirmative action YRPG has taken in people’s livelihood and the outstanding contribution YRPG has made to Chinese poverty alleviation in 2008, the title “Chinese Pioneer in People’s Livelihood Activities” has been awarded to the Group by China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation. 
The charity of YRPG and its concern and contribution to the improvement of people’s livelihood were all recorded by the medal. After Wenchuan Earthquake happened on May 12, YRPG donated medicines of RMB 20,000,000 to the severely afflicted areas via Red Cross Society and China Foundations of Population and Welfare. The medicines were delivered to such areas the first time the earthquake was learned, becoming the firstling from other provinces after the earthquake. Meanwhile, the Group and it staff made an outpouring of donation of more than 3 million and the staff made a flood donation of 50,000CC or so, playing an active part in the earthquake relief work.
Coming through 3 decades and more, YRPG always makes improving livelihood its mission and keeps social responsibility of the enterprise in mind during manufacturing, operating and managing, being a model in supporting public welfare. Incomplete statistics shows that up to now, the donation of money, medicine and goods made by enterprise added up to RMB 280,000,000, widely applied to disaster relief, poverty alleviation, army supporting, study supporting, treat and cure and so on. From 2001, YRPG has held a large-scale public service activity with the theme of caring the health of people in the West for three years with an investment of more than 40 million. In the activity, the staff of YRPG travelled more than 30,000km, bringing health care, medicine and knowledge to more than ten provinces, cities and autonomous regions in the West and offering vision recover action to poor elderly cataract patients for free with medical team organized. In anti-SARS campaign in 2003, YRPG donated medicines of 5 million to medical and health organizations all over China and established YRPG Anti-SARS Foundation with a donation of 1 million. Out of its strong support to Chinese medicine advance in technology, YRPG has invested solely for seven years to the establishment of the top science and technology award of Chinese pharmaceuticals industry, that is, China Medical Science and Technology Award. Besides, the Group establishes YRPG Charity Society, caring social vulnerable groups sincerely and benefiting the people around.
Xu Jingren, in the interview, put that the award was the affirmation and encouragement on the enterprise from the state and also an objective interpretation on the enterprise’s social citizenship; that in the future, YRPG would make helping the distressed and protecting the people its mission as usual, respond actively to the summons of the Party and the State, participate in eliminating poverty and keeping fighting for a harmonious and beautiful society.
