The most devastating heavy snowfall struck China in 2008. The weather was exceptionally cold.
Spring Festival was approaching. How could people in underprivileged circumstances around YRPG maintain the normal production and living? Could they have a happy and peaceful festival? All these problems concerned the people of YRPG. From January 30^thto February 2^ndin 2008, led by the leaders of YRPG, more than 100 party members of YRPG went from door to door in Gaogang District to care about their living and know about their problems and warmed the heart of those stricken by poverty and the severe weather.
Knowing that the party leaders of YRPG were coming, the neighborhood committee of Kou'an hung up a banner in the meeting room in advance to welcome them. People in underprivileged conditions arrived in the meeting room from all directions. Despite the freezing cold outside, the room was filled with warmth. At the short donation ceremony, Ji Hongquan, deputy secretary of the Party committee of YRPG said affectionately that the development of YRPG could not be separated from the support of the people and that it was the responsibility of YRPG to give back to the society. “We are proud and lucky that we have such a benevolent enterprise like YRPG in Gaogang District.” Applause could be heard from time to time inside the room. It was not that cold at Kou'an old town in such a freezing winter.
Accompanied by Qi Zhengxin, standing vice-chairman of YRPG Charity Society, Ji Hongquan and others visited Li Jiujin, Cao Wulong and other four needy families and offered consolation money to them. They asked about the living and the purchase for the Spring Festival of the six families carefully and encouraged them to be confident and brave to create a better life in the future with their hands.
On February 1^st, it began to snow again not long after the heavy snowstorm. Ji Shouru, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of YRPG, together with several mangers of the second marketing subsidiary companies to visit and offer condolence and support to the family of Ji Guoshan living on the street of Diaopu.
“On behalf of YRPG, we are here today for two reasons: to express gratitude for the support of the people in hometown for YRPG; and to offer some help to families in need!” Ji Shouru offered condolence to the family and encouraged them to be strong and brave. Ji Guoshan and his son were moved to tears when they received the condolence money.
Baima Town is a village with a glorious revolutionary tradition. On February, 1939, after the founding of Tai County Working Committee of CPC in Dichai Lane, Taizhou, committee member, Dai Weiran carried out revolutionary activities in Baima Town to recruit party members and establish the primary-level organization of CPC. Today, on this ancient land of revolution, many peasants are living in poverty.
Guided by the personnel in the Poverty Relief Office of Baima Town, Sun Tianjiang, deputy general manager of YRPG, and Liu Xiuxia, secretary of the General Manager, and others came to the house of Hu Jianjun in Huanghe Village, whose household was enjoying the five guarantees. Sun and Liu greeted Hu Jianjun and his wife and asked about their life. The old couple was excited upon the condolence of Party leaders from afar and expressed gratitude to the country, the Party, and YRPG with tears in their eyes.
In the town of Yexu, Xu Liqin, deputy general manager of YRPG offered condolence money to 24 households living in poverty there and brought the concern and care of YRPG to Cai Guiying, the widow of martyred soldier living in poverty, and the handicapped, Xu Qian and Luan Changhua. In the town of Yongan Zhou, Ji Weiqun, deputy general manager of YRPG and others were warmly welcomed by the leaders of the town and offered a total sum of 13,500 yuan of condolence money to 27 families living in extreme poverty. “We are grateful for the timely help. It is really a relief to us. We don’t have to worry about the Spring Festival anymore!” The families were all grateful and could hardly conceal their delight.
The “Heart-warming Activities” before Spring Festival of YRPG gave away over 120 thousand yuan of condolence money to a total of 246 households living in poverty, which demonstrates the deepest love and affection that YRPG has towards the people in hometown and brings warmth to people in the hometown. The warmth and love carried on by YRPG warmed the hearts of those in need against the cold weather.
