The Ministry of Science and Technology has recently approved 36 enterprise labs as the country’s first batch of the State Key Enterprise Labs. With its “New Pharmaceutical Formulation Technology Lab”, the Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group (hereinafter referred to as YRPG) has become the only enterprise in Jiangsu Province to make the list.

In the past five years, YRPG has invested more than five percent of its total sales income every year on the research and development of new products, and the new high-tech products have accounted for over half of the Group’ s total sales income. In July last year, YRPG was named among the first batch of pilot innovation-oriented enterprises by the Ministry of Science and Technology, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and All China Federation of Trade Union.

According to Xu Jingren, YRPG Chairman of Board, the Lab has planned to invest a total of 50 million yuan for matching facilities, three million for equipment building, and another 20 million for operation every year during the 11th Five-year period.

He said the Lab has set its target of 15 research programs on new pharmaceutical formulations and 15-20 applications for invention patents, with an eye on building a world-class, open base for research on pharmaceutical engineering, talents cultivation and academic exchange.
